67% of the people who wrote a review gave this product 5 stars out of 5 stars. From reading the reviews, there really are no complaints with the cleaning ability of this product. It is a product that is easy to use and gets the job done.
8% of the people who wrote a review gave it 1 star out of 5 stars and usually the reason for that was a problem with cracking of the hose near the handle. Reading one of the reviews, the person who noticed the problem was still so happy with the machine that they still gave the product 5 stars and gave a recommendation to all on how to prevent this problem.
Her suggestion was that when you attach the hose to the unit, it can cause a kink in the hose that over time can crack. She suggested never attaching the end of the hose to the unit for storage to avoid this problem. She is attaching it with loose ties instead.
This is the product you want for those quick clean up jobs that happen in most of our families. Spilled food or drinks, pet urine or vomit. This isn’t the “do your whole living room type of cleaner.” This is a spot cleaner and it gets the job done very well.
Other Tips Or Suggestions For Cleaning Pet Mess From Your Carpet
If you have a tough stain to clean up I suggest pre treating the stain before actually cleaning. Press the trigger for cleaning to mist solution over the soiled area. Wait 3-5 minutes before cleaning with the scrubber and vacuuming up the spot. The Bissell Spot Cleaner will let you do this.
To clean dog urine from carpet, blot the area with paper towels or white cotton cloths. Stand on the towels to get as much soaked up as possible. And repeat a few times until it is just damp.
Clean the area with water and soap to dilute the urine spot. Sprinkle baking soda on the spot and vacuum up when it is dried. I suggest not using the vinegar mixtures that you will often find on line.

This method is very similar to using a pet carpet cleaner. It won’t do as good of job as the carpet cleaner, but if you don’t have one, I recommend using this cleanup method.
Removal of bile or dog vomit seems like an impossible task at times, and if it isn’t done correctly, you will have a hard time getting rid of that yellow stain. Here are my suggestions for cleaning up bile, either with a cleaner or without.
What you need for cleaning stains.
- Remove all vomit or bile with a spatula prior to cleaning carpet, being careful not to spread it to a bigger area.
- Blot the area with cool water and a sponge and let set for about 30 minutes. Do not use hot water, as this will set the stain into the carpet. At this point, either use a carpet cleaner with cool water to clean up, or follow the remaining steps.
- Mix 1/2 cup table salt with 2 quarts of cool water and stir to dissolve.
- Blot the bile spot with this solution and a sponge. Blot with a dry towel.
- Repeat if necessary until stain is gone.
- Sprinkle with baking soda to absorb left over odors and leave for several hours before vacuuming up.

There are methods to cleaning your carpet without a carpet cleaner, as I have given you two examples of how to clean common dog messes. The problem I have with these, and I have used them many times, is that I never feel that I am truly getting it clean unless I use a carpet cleaner. The carpet always feels a bit more crunchy or stiff where it has been cleaned.
