Sealy Lux Dog Bed Overview

With this dog bed, not only will you be providing your dog with the comfort of an orthopedic dog bed to support their joints and bones and relieve arthritis pain, but you will also be able to help your dog cool down on those hot summer days. For summer use, this dog bed provides the best of two worlds.

It is called the quad bed, because it offers 4 layers of comfort for your dog.

The first layer has the cooling energy get which will help regulate body temperature by dissipating heat away from the sleeping surface. This surface should remain cool for your dog from 3 to 4 hours and will regenerate within 20 minutes after your dog leaves the bed. There is no need for you to cool in freezer or refrigerator or add cold water.

The second layer is pet rest memory foam that conforms to your dogs body to provide support for all the pressure points, helping your dog to feel less stiff and sore when they get up from the bed. It adapts quickly to movement and helps increase circulation in your dog’s body.

The third layer is Bio-Green Orthopedic Foam. This will help evenly distribute your pet’s weight on the bed, prevent it from sagging and from bottoming our under your dog’s weight.

Since dogs can’t perspire, they need to pant to lower their body temperature.

The fourth layer is pro-charcoal HD foam base. (I am not familiar with any other dog beds that I have researched having this feature.) It provides an additional layer of support and aids in absorption of odors, keeping your dog bed from getting that doggy smell all dog owners are familiar with.

It has a removable cover that is machine washable with hidden zippers. Non-slip bottom and foam bolsters for support on your dog’s back, neck or head. Dogs that like draping their head over something when they sleep will enjoy the added pillow for their head.

The Good And The Bad

Good 1: Energy cooling gel dissipating your dog’s heat and helping them to cool down quicker.

Good 2: Orthopedic foam providing support for pressure points.

Good 3: Waterproof lining. (There has been some changes on the material they use for this. Older reviews have complaints about how noisy the waterproof liner was. That isn’t the case any longer.)

Good 4: 5 year warranty on foam.

Bad 1: Complaints of cover not study enough.

Bad 2: Complaints that net bottom doesn’t wear well.

Bad 3: This is a pricey dog bed.

Who Is This Cooling Bed Good For

Really anyone who has a dog that lives in warm temperatures. If your dog likes to go outside and gets heated up from a walk or playing outdoors, a cooling dog bed can help them get back to a regulated temperature quicker, helping them to feel more comfortable and able to relax.

This is one way to help your dogs cool off on a hot summer day.

I know there are times in the summer where I am actually cold in my home, since I will have the air conditioning lower than I want to help cool my dog down. A cooling bed will help you save energy by not turning the air conditioner as low. If my dog can’t sleep at night because he is too warm, I don’t get much sleep either when he is wrestling around trying to get comfortable. A comfortable, peaceful dog puts everyone more at ease.

If you don’t have air conditioning, it is even hardly to get a dog cooled down on those warm days. Your dog laying on a cooling bed is similar to you sticking your face in the refrigerator to cool down. It feels like instant relieve.

My Overall Opinion…

I love the idea of a dog cooling bed for my dog. My dog is older and has joint issues. When I take him for his morning walk, he is always quick to lay on the hard tile floor, since it is nice and cool on his body. After laying there for 2 hours, he has a hard time getting up and he is much more stiff. I prefer to see him in comfort.

With a cooling bed, it is the first place that he goes when he gets back inside, and I feel better knowing that not only is he getting cooled off, the bed is providing him with the support and comfort that he needs and desires.
